Overview
Traxit is an Italian specialty solutions provider developing a patented IoT luggage tracking platform for airlines, airports, logistics handlers, and travel insurance carriers. The platform pairs a multi-sensor hardware device with a ledger-based backend to deliver real-time baggage location data and automated parametric insurance claim processing.
The core hardware product, BBox, is a compact IoT device placed inside checked luggage. It integrates GPS, a proprietary multi-sensor algorithm, and an embedded M2M SIM-on-chip connected to the GSM network. The device automatically switches to safe mode during all flight stages to comply with FAA and EASA aviation safety regulations, and supports a battery life of up to four months. A connected ledger-based backend collects sensor data, provides real-time tracking via web dashboard and mobile app, and triggers smart contracts to process insurance claims when delay or damage events are detected.
Traxit raised a seed round totaling USD 142K and was supported by the Upidea! acceleration program and EIT KIC Urban Mobility. The company exhibited at CES 2021 as one of 21 Italian IoT companies selected for global showcase and has completed a merger and acquisition with Bagtrax, a FAA/EASA/IATA-compliant aviation luggage tracking startup.
