Overview

Third Coast Underwriters (3CU) is a workers compensation MGA and specialty division of AF Group that serves mid-to-large employers with complex operations and high-hazard risk profiles. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Chicago, the company distributes coverage exclusively through independent agents and brokers, deploying local teams in core markets to provide hands-on underwriting service across all 50 states.

3CU underwrites workers compensation for employers in sectors including construction, specialty transportation, agribusiness, oil and gas, longshore and harbor operations, and companies in merger or acquisition transitions. Policies are issued through AF Group subsidiaries -- Accident Fund Insurance Company of America, Accident Fund National Insurance Company, Accident Fund General Insurance Company, United Wisconsin Insurance Company, Third Coast Insurance Company, and CompWest Insurance Company -- which carry an AM Best rating of A (Excellent).

The division reached a milestone of USD 100 million in written premium in 2019. A minimum premium threshold of USD 150,000 reflects a focus on mid-to-large accounts with complex exposures. 3CU has received Business Insurance Best Places to Work recognition for 10 consecutive years.
