Overview
Parsyl is a data-powered cargo insurer and risk management company that uses supply chain sensor data and AI to underwrite and protect perishable and sensitive goods in transit. Founded in 2017 by Ben Hubbard, Alex Haar, and Mike Linton, Parsyl combines IoT monitoring technology with insurance underwriting expertise to serve the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and life sciences sectors.
The company operates as a Lloyd's Coverholder and Managing General Underwriter (MGU), and manages Syndicate 1796 -- the first mission-driven syndicate at Lloyd's of London, launched in 2020 in honour of Edward Jenner's 1796 smallpox vaccine experiments. Parsyl leads the Essential Consortium, one of the largest marine cargo consortia in the London market, with 20+ third-party capacity providers. In July 2025, Parsyl extended its reach into the US admitted market with USD 55M in capacity initially available in 38 states.
Parsyl's risk management technology monitors vaccine supply chains for nearly 200 million people across 80+ countries. Claims can be settled in as little as two days using sensor data, bypassing traditional loss survey requirements.
