OpenLegacy
Legacy system modernization platform that auto-generates APIs and microservices from existing enterprise systems
Overview
OpenLegacy is a legacy modernization and API generation platform for enterprises in financial services, insurance, and other regulated industries. The platform connects to aging core systems -- including mainframes, IBM i Series (AS/400), databases, and packaged applications -- and automatically generates REST APIs and microservices without requiring code rewrites or operational downtime. Insurance carriers and financial institutions use OpenLegacy to expose data and processes from core policy, claims, and payment systems to modern digital channels.
The platform uses a three-phase Analyze--Plan--Execute methodology to guide phased migrations. It maps system dependencies, identifies decoupling boundaries, and generates production-ready microservices. OpenLegacy supports three decoupling strategies: internal application-layer decoupling, external API-layer decoupling, and data-layer modernization. Deployments are cloud-agnostic, supporting AWS, Azure, GCP, hybrid, and on-premises configurations.
Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, OpenLegacy has raised USD 61M across four funding rounds, with investors including SBI Holdings, Cathay Innovation, and Silverhorn Investment Advisors. The company serves 30+ institutional clients including MetLife, Legal & General, AIG, Scotiabank, and Standard Chartered.
