zeitsprung
BiPRO data-exchange and broker-networking platform for the German insurance market
Overview
zeitsprung is a data-exchange and document-automation platform for insurance carriers and brokers in Germany, covering both property and casualty and life and annuity lines. The company connects carriers, brokers, broker pools, and distribution networks so that policy, claims, and portfolio data can move between systems without manual handling.
The core of the platform is a set of servers built to the German insurance industry's BiPRO-430 data-exchange standard, covering transaction authorization, file transfer, portfolio data, and claims processes. On top of this, zeitsprung offers an AI module called ZOE for automating document and data-processing tasks, a shadow database for record reconciliation, and a broker-facing suite that includes automated inbound-mail processing, an extranet, a comparison calculator, a customer portal, and GDV-format data clearing. The zeitsprung Cloud is the underlying network layer, linking an estimated 10,000 distributors to more than 80 connected carriers for automated document and data retrieval.
zeitsprung states that more than 6,000 companies use its services. Corporate registry records trace the legal entity back to a 2009 predecessor renamed "zeitsprung Beteiligungen GmbH" in 2011 and merged into the current zeitsprung GmbH in 2022; other sources separately cite 1999 or 2010 as a founding year, neither confirmed against a primary source. In June 2023, blau direkt -- an insurance-technology group backed by an investment vehicle of Warburg Pincus -- took a majority stake in zeitsprung. The exact stake size was not disclosed in primary press coverage; one secondary source put it at 60%, unconfirmed. Both companies said zeitsprung would keep operating as an independent brand and continue serving blau direkt's competitors as well as blau direkt itself. Managing director Marcel Hanselmann exited around the time of the deal; German commercial-registry records list Georg Schmitz as managing director as of May 2024, a later change than the "Sasha Justmann continues as CEO" reporting from 2023.
