Motordata Research Consortium
Malaysia's standard-setting body for motor insurance claims data and vehicle repair standardization
Overview
Motordata Research Consortium (MRC) is a claims data and vehicle repair standardization provider serving Malaysian motor insurance carriers and automotive repairers. Appointed by Malaysian insurers and endorsed by the Central Bank of Malaysia (Bank Negara Malaysia), MRC operates as the primary authority for standardizing motor insurance claims estimation and compensation in Malaysia.
MRC delivers comprehensive vehicle parts pricing databases, standardized repair time benchmarks, and a software accreditation program for claims estimating systems used across the Malaysian general insurance industry. Products include the flagship MRC Database (ARDD), an alternative parts pricing database, and a dedicated motorcycle parts database. The company also provides industry publications, technical research bulletins, and an eLearning platform for professional development in automotive repair. Delivery is database-subscription based with integrations into motor claims estimating software.
MRC serves 100+ Malaysian insurance carriers and claims management organizations and is the sole appointed standard-bearer for motor insurance claims data in Malaysia. Shareholders include HeiTech Padu Berhad and MNRB Holdings Berhad, both public-listed Malaysian companies. In 2025, MRC achieved Global Associate membership with Thatcham Research, becoming only the second international organization after Suncorp (Australia) to receive this recognition.
