Overview

Liferaft is a technology platform specializing in Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and customizable health benefits solutions for small businesses and their employees. Founded in 2019 by Nimish Shukla and Ian Blumenfeld in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the company helps employers move beyond traditional fully insured group health insurance by designing custom HRA-based benefit plans that are more affordable and flexible. Liferaft is licensed in all 50 US states and the District of Columbia.

In May 2025, Liferaft was acquired by Vitable Health, creating the first unified platform offering both Individual Coverage HRA (ICHRA) and comprehensive virtual primary care services. The combined solution enables employers to set up health benefits in approximately 90 minutes with AI-powered ongoing administration, with the acquisition accelerating Vitable's go-to-market timeline by at least six months.

Liferaft serves hundreds of employers through direct sales and a partner channel that includes brokers, Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), and digital health companies. The platform is SOC 2 certified and HIPAA compliant.
