Omnichannel insurance management and distribution software for African markets

Overview

Kakbima is an insurance management and distribution software platform for insurers, brokers, micro-insurers, and distribution partners operating in Africa. Founded in October 2017 by Sam Wanekeya and Omuga Bertrand, the company addresses the low insurance penetration rates in East African markets by providing a unified digital workspace that connects insurance carriers, agents, and end customers.

The platform combines CRM, policy management, claims management, quotation automation, and premium payment processing in a single SaaS offering. Kakbima focuses on enabling omnichannel distribution -- allowing insurance products to reach customers through multiple channels while giving carriers and brokers a single system to manage the full policy lifecycle.

Kakbima raised a USD 25K seed round from The Baobab Network in April 2019. The company operates primarily in Kenya and targets the East African market, where digital infrastructure gaps create demand for mobile-friendly insurance distribution tooling.
