Overview

Human API is a health data connectivity platform that enables consumer-consented access to electronic health records (EHRs), health information exchanges (HIEs), lab results, and wearable data at scale. Founded in 2013 by Andrei Pop and Ola Wiberg, the company built the Health Intelligence Platform to modernize life insurance underwriting by replacing paper-based attending physician statement (APS) processes with real-time digital health data.

The platform connects patients with healthcare organizations through a secure, consent-driven interface, facilitating access to over 30,000 data connections -- including medical records, labs, and 300+ wearable devices -- covering 270M+ individuals. This positions Human API as a critical data infrastructure layer for life insurers seeking faster, more accurate underwriting decisions.

In April 2023, Human API was acquired by LexisNexis Risk Solutions, a division of RELX, and now operates as the Health Intelligence EHR offering within the LexisNexis Risk Solutions portfolio. The acquisition extended LexisNexis Risk Solutions' data and analytics capabilities for the life insurance market.
