Overview

Herald is a commercial insurance API platform for brokers, carriers, and software developers. The company provides a unified REST API that connects retail and wholesale brokerages to a network of 35+ carrier partners across 80+ commercial insurance products, including General Liability, Workers Compensation, Cyber, Professional Liability, Business Owners Policy, and Management Liability. Primary customers are retail agencies, wholesale brokerages, enterprise brokerages, and SaaS platforms embedding insurance into their workflows.

The platform offers three main layers: a Data API for quoting, binding, and policy operations; Workbench, an intelligence engine with AI-driven market analytics; and Inbox, an email-native AI agent that automates submission intake, data extraction, and multi-carrier quoting directly from a broker's email client. Herald works with 8 of the top 25 largest US brokerages and reports SOC 2 Type II certification. The company raised a USD 12M Series A in October 2024 led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Brewer Lane Ventures, bringing total disclosed funding to USD 20M.
