FirstVet is a pet telehealth platform that provides on-demand video veterinary consultations to pet owners through embedded partnerships with insurance carriers. Founded in 2016 in Stockholm, the company operates across seven countries -- Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States -- distributing its services primarily through pet insurance companies as a policyholder benefit at no additional out-of-pocket cost.

The platform offers a mobile-first experience via iOS and Android apps, enabling pet owners to connect with licensed veterinarians for consultations on a wide range of conditions including skin issues, digestive problems, nutrition, behavioral concerns, and first aid. Backend integrations with insurance carrier systems allow seamless benefit delivery without requiring separate enrollment by policyholders. The company also offers equine consultation services and launched e-commerce and pharmacy products in 2021.

FirstVet has built a network of 60+ insurance carrier partnerships globally, providing coverage access to more than 5 million insured pets. Nationwide is among its US carrier partners. The company raised EUR 20M in a June 2024 Series C round led by TELUS Ventures and OMERS Ventures, bringing total disclosed funding to approximately USD 83.5M across six rounds. The round is intended to accelerate North America expansion and support new partnership models.
