DRONEBASE, LLC
AI-powered aerial inspection and asset intelligence for critical infrastructure, renewable energy, and property.
Overview
Zeitview (formerly DroneBase) is an AI-powered asset intelligence and visualization platform specializing in critical infrastructure inspection and management. Founded in 2014 by Dan Burton in Santa Monica, California and now headquartered in San Diego, the company originally built its business on drone-based aerial property inspections for the P&C insurance industry. It has since expanded into solar, wind, construction, utilities, and critical infrastructure asset management.
The company rebranded from DroneBase to Zeitview in February 2023 following a USD 55M Series E investment led by Valor Equity Partners. The rebrand reflects the company's evolution from a drone services marketplace into a broader asset intelligence platform. In March 2025, Zeitview raised an additional USD 60M venture round led by Climate Investment, bringing total funding to USD 174M. The company operates in over 60 countries and has grown through strategic acquisitions including Heliolytics (solar inspection) and Clearsight (transmission and substation inspection).
For the insurance industry, Zeitview provides remote property condition assessments that support P&C underwriting and claims workflows, reducing the need for in-person inspections while delivering high-resolution aerial imagery with AI-driven damage analysis.
