Demandoo
On-demand, usage-based insurance for the gig economy and shared mobility sector
Overview
Demandoo is an embedded insurance platform for gig economy, shared mobility, and delivery businesses. The company provides usage-based insurance products that digital platforms can integrate directly into their apps via API, enabling workers and users to activate and deactivate coverage on demand -- paying only for active work sessions. Core insurance lines include third-party liability, personal accident, professional liability, and mobility coverage for e-scooters, bikes, and commercial fleets.
The platform centers on a proprietary AI risk engine that analyzes rider behavior, vehicle telematics, weather data, and traffic conditions to generate actuarial models and personalized risk profiles. This allows Demandoo to price fractional, short-duration coverage in real time. Carrier relationships include global reinsurers and Madanes Insurance Group, Israel's largest insurance group, which co-founded the company.
Demandoo launched commercial operations in July 2020, securing Wolt -- an international food delivery platform -- as a founding customer, providing personal accident and third-party liability coverage for thousands of delivery couriers. In 2021, the company expanded to corporate fleet coverage through a partnership with Pizza Hut Israel for e-bike delivery operations. Eyal Waldman, former CEO of Mellanox Technologies (acquired by NVIDIA for USD 7B), sits on the board as an investor.
