DecisionRules

Cloud-native decision automation platform for financial services and insurance operations

Visit Website

Overview

DecisionRules is a business rules management system (BRMS) for carriers, MGAs, and financial services companies that need to automate decisions around claims processing, risk scoring, fraud detection, and dynamic pricing. The platform lets business teams and engineers collaborate on decision logic without requiring constant IT involvement, separating rules from application code.

The product delivers decision automation through visual decision tables, decision trees, multi-step decision flows, scripting rules, and lookup tables -- all accessible via REST API and native SDKs for JavaScript, Java, .NET, Python, and Go. An AI Assistant accelerates rule authoring by generating decision tables from plain-language descriptions. The platform processes over 100 million decisions daily and supports deployment on AWS (US and EU regions), private managed cloud, and self-hosted environments via Docker or Kubernetes.

Founded in 2023 by Vaclaw Kandrnal and Petr Lev, DecisionRules secured EUR 1.6M in seed funding in May 2025 from Lighthouse Ventures and a syndicate of Czech and international investors. The company serves customers across insurance, fintech, e-commerce, and telecom, with teams typically reaching production in 4-8 weeks. It holds ISO 27001 certification and SOC 2 Type II audit status, and expanded its US presence with a local team in 2026.

Products & Services

Key Features

  • Tabular rule format familiar to business analysts
  • Version control and branching for rule governance
  • Import/export for bulk rule management

Target Users: Business analysts, underwriters, actuaries, compliance teams

Decision Trees

Visual branching logic for multi-path decision scenarios. Enables non-linear decision flows with multiple conditions and outcomes.

Key Features

  • Drag-and-drop visual tree builder
  • Nested conditional branches
  • Output mapping to downstream systems via API

Target Users: Claims teams, risk teams, product owners

Decision Flows

No-code workflow builder that chains rules, API calls, and data transformations into multi-step decision processes.

Key Features

  • Sequential and parallel execution steps
  • External API call nodes for data enrichment
  • Built-in connectors for Equifax, Experian, and LexisNexis

Target Users: IT architects, operations teams, fraud analysts

Scripting Rules

Custom calculations and transformations using code-like syntax for advanced logic requirements that standard rule types cannot address.

Key Features

  • Code-based rule authoring for complex logic
  • Embeds within Decision Flows as a rule step
  • Supports custom expressions and functions

Target Users: Developers, actuaries, technical business analysts

Lookup Tables

Reference data management for maintaining master data, lookup lists, and external data references within the platform.

AI Assistant

Generates Decision Tables from plain-language descriptions. Reduces rule authoring time by approximately 60% and lowers the barrier for business users to express logic without training.

Key Features

  • Natural language to decision table conversion
  • Iterative refinement of generated rules
  • MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for AI assistant compatibility

Target Users: Business users, non-technical rule authors

AI Agent (Runtime Rule Type)

A runtime rule component for document intelligence, sentiment analysis, and entity recognition, enabling AI-powered decision steps within existing flows.
