Overview

Corgi is a direct-to-digital insurance carrier licensed to operate the complete insurance stack -- underwriting, policy management, and claims handling -- without relying on third-party carriers or managing general agents. Founded in 2024 and operating from San Francisco, the company targets venture-backed technology startups across all funding stages, offering commercial coverage across 49 U.S. states. Its product set includes Directors and Officers (D&O), Technology Errors and Omissions (Tech E&O), Cyber Liability, Commercial General Liability (CGL), Hired and Non-Owned Auto, Fiduciary Liability, and a specialized AI Liability product designed for companies deploying machine learning systems.

The carrier operates a proprietary AI underwriting engine called Hammurabi, which analyzes uploaded corporate documents and auto-populates company data to produce quotes in under 10 minutes with same-day binding. This compresses a process that traditionally takes two to four weeks. Policies are delivered through a fully self-serve digital platform at app.corgi.insure; startup customers receive policy update notifications via Slack. Corgi obtained full regulatory approval as a licensed carrier in July 2025, making it one of the first AI-native companies to hold direct carrier authority across multiple lines of commercial business.

By January 2026 Corgi had exceeded USD 40M in annual recurring revenue and reported more than 40,000 startup policyholders across 49 states. The company raised USD 108M in a combined seed and Series A in January 2026, followed by a USD 160M Series B at a USD 1.3B valuation in May 2026, and a USD 106M Series B1 at a USD 2.6B valuation later the same month -- bringing total capital raised to approximately USD 374M. Investors include TCV, Y Combinator, Kindred Ventures, and Contrary.
