Founded in 2019, the company provides portable insurance, on-demand pay, and financial benefits to workers in gig and shift-based employment, a segment largely unserved by traditional group benefit schemes.
The platform delivers income protection, accident and injury insurance, public liability, and hire-and-reward coverage through an API-driven model that integrates with gig economy platforms. Benefits are usage-based and tied to actual shift data, so coverage scales with hours worked. Workers carry their benefits across multiple platform employers rather than having separate policies with each one.
As of 2024, the platform serves over 600,000 workers. The company raised a Series A in 2021 and received a strategic minority investment from Zurich Insurance Group in November 2024, with the partnership aimed at combining Zurich global expertise in employee benefits with Onsi digital distribution capabilities. The company rebranded from Collective Benefits to Onsi in September 2024.
