Overview
BIMA Ghana (operating as Milvik Ghana Ltd) is a mobile-first insurance and telemedicine platform serving low-income consumers in Ghana and other emerging markets. Operating under the MILVIK BIMA group, the company offers affordable life, health, and accident insurance products alongside on-demand doctor consultations to populations with limited access to traditional financial services.
The platform is delivered via mobile phone without documentation requirements. Customers register and pay premiums through USSD, mobile airtime, or mobile money services (MTN MobileMoney, Telecel Ghana). Insurance products are underwritten by Sanlam Allianz and start from GHc 18/month. BIMA was the first licensed telemedicine provider in Ghana and conducts over one million phone consultations annually across its global markets.
Since launching in Ghana in 2010, BIMA has served more than 2.5 million Ghanaians, paid over 65,000 claims, and distributed more than GHc 26M to customers. Globally, the MILVIK BIMA group has reached over 35 million people across six markets and achieved group-level profitability in 2024. In May 2026, the company announced a pending acquisition as part of a USD 119M digital health roll-up by Nasdaq-listed Mobile-health Network Solutions (MNDR) and Singapore-based Hector Capital.
