Bertie
End-to-end digital platform for MGAs and brokers, built around Lloyd's Standards
Overview
Bertie is an end-to-end insurance workflow platform for MGAs and brokers operating in the Lloyd's market. The platform covers the complete underwriting lifecycle -- from submission ingestion and quote-to-bind through policy document issuance and bordereau production -- within a single-capture system that eliminates the need to rekey data across multiple tools.
The platform is structured around Lloyd's Standards, incorporating the Core Data Record and Market Reform Contract frameworks to ensure compliance with Lloyd's market requirements by default. A visual node-based rating engine lets underwriting teams build and deploy rating schemes -- from simple flat-rate to complex multi-variable models -- without technical overhead, with live updates and no deployment delays. An offline-first desktop application allows underwriters to quote complex risks without internet connectivity, syncing to the cloud when available.
Founded in 2024 by Luke Aitkins, formerly CTO at MGA Aspect, Bertie launched in March 2026 and began onboarding its first clients. The company has since extended its focus beyond MGAs into the broker market. Aspect Labs is a publicly cited customer, reporting a 50% reduction in operations time and a 3x improvement in quote-to-bind speed.
