Overview
AstroTeq is a specialty risk intelligence platform for insurers and reinsurers, providing AI-driven earthquake forecasting with multi-day advance warning. Founded in 2019 and based in Rzeszow, Poland, the company serves carriers targeting earthquake-exposed markets across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and emerging regions including Turkey, Japan, Mexico, and Italy.
The platform fuses cosmic ray flux measurements, muon detection networks, satellite thermal imagery (SAR), and seismological data through deep learning models to identify precursor signals ahead of seismic events. AstroTeq reports a 99.6% global precision rate, 90% detection rate for M7.0+ magnitude earthquakes, and an average lead time of 22.9 days across 247 forecasted events since 2022. All 33 M7+ earthquakes between 2016 and 2024 were correctly identified in advance. The system is delivered as a cloud-based platform with an Early Warning API for programmatic integration into insurance underwriting and claims workflows.
AstroTeq is a Lloyd's Lab InsureTech Accelerator alumnus and is conducting an active pilot with Tokio Marine in Japan. The company has identified a USD 170 billion earthquake insurance protection gap as its addressable market, positioning its forecasting capability as an enabler for new parametric and traditional earthquake insurance products.
