Overview

AI-Underwrite (operating as Sm8rtHealth LLP) is an electronic underwriting platform for life and health insurers, enabling carriers to configure and deploy AI-assisted underwriting decisions without IT involvement. The platform targets insurers seeking to replace manual underwriting processes with a scalable, rules-driven SaaS solution that improves straight-through processing (STP) rates and reduces time-to-market for new insurance products.

The platform combines a no-code rules engine containing over 12,000 medical conditions with an AI assistant, an e-application builder, and a case management dashboard. Insurers can configure products, build digital questionnaires, and deploy underwriting logic across multiple sales channels -- direct-to-consumer, adviser, and tele-sales -- through a single API-driven architecture. The underlying underwriting rules are co-configured with reinsurance partners, with the insurer's IT team retaining control over branding and front-end presentation.

Founded in 2022 by a team combining over 25 years of underwriting expertise with software architecture experience, the company builds on foundational work dating back to 2008 in New Zealand and Asian markets. AI-Underwrite is bootstrapped with a small team of 5-10 people and targets life and health insurers in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
