Overview

Zuno General Insurance is a direct-to-digital general insurance carrier licensed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and operating across 29 states. Formerly Edelweiss General Insurance, the company rebranded as Zuno in 2022. It offers motor, two-wheeler, health, home, and commercial insurance lines to consumers and businesses in India. With over 8 million customers and a network of 5,400+ cashless garages and 6,000+ hospital empanelments, Zuno functions as a full-stack carrier with omnichannel distribution through aggregators, automotive OEMs, and financial intermediaries.

Zuno has operated on a cloud-native architecture since its founding in 2016, making it among the earliest general insurers in India to build core systems entirely on cloud infrastructure. Its flagship motor product, Zuno SmartDrive, uses telematics and AI-driven analytics to deliver usage-based insurance with real-time crash detection, automatic claims initiation, and driver behavior scoring. The company has developed proprietary systems for predictive fraud detection and AI-based risk prediction, and operates an Open API Gateway that enables third-party partners to integrate with its platform for policy issuance and claims processing.

Zuno is privately held as part of the Edelweiss Group, with authorized capital of INR 2,000 crore and paid-up capital of INR 1,057 crore as of FY 2024-25. The solvency ratio stands at 172% as of FY 2023-24, above the IRDAI regulatory minimum of 150%. The company reported an incurred claims settlement ratio of 88.3% for FY 2024-25. No external venture funding has been raised; the business is 100% promoter-held.
