Overview

WeSure (branded 微保 / Weibao, operated by the licensed entity Weimin Insurance Agency Co., Ltd.) is a retail insurance brokerage embedded directly inside WeChat and QQ, serving individual consumers across China. Tencent holds a 57.8% controlling stake in the operating entity, which received regulatory approval from China's insurance regulator in October 2017 and launched to the public the following month.

The platform lets WeChat and QQ users browse, buy, manage, and file claims for insurance policies through a WeChat Mini Program, without leaving the messaging app. WeSure does not underwrite; it distributes co-developed and white-label products from more than 20 partner insurers and reinsurers, including Taikang, China Pacific Insurance (CPIC), PICC, Ping An, and MetLife, spanning health, auto, life, and travel coverage. It relies on WeChat's social graph for referral-driven customer acquisition and on Tencent's AI and data infrastructure for anti-fraud detection and underwriting support.

By November 2020 WeSure had attracted more than 50 million insured clients and surpassed 100 million registered users, with its WeChat Mini Program reaching over 40 million monthly active users by 2021. The company introduced online claims processing in 2019 and added a WeChat-native quick-claim service in 2023. In 2024 it relocated its headquarters within Shenzhen to the Qianhai district and established nine branches to meet regulatory requirements; as of 2026 it reports cumulative claims processed of RMB 8.4 billion across more than 25.76 million claim cases.
