Placing Platform Limited
The digital placing platform for the London (re)insurance market
Overview
Placing Platform Limited (PPL) is an electronic placing platform for the London (re)insurance market, serving brokers and underwriting carriers across nearly all classes of risk. Founded in 2016 as a not-for-profit company, PPL was created by and for the London Market to provide a single shared infrastructure for quoting, negotiating, and binding risks digitally.
The platform offers end-to-end electronic placement capabilities, structured data and digital contract management, API integrations for system connectivity, and direct integration with Microsoft Outlook and Teams. Risks are placed through structured data workflows aligned with MRCv3 standards, with support for straight-through processing and automated data exchange with carriers. The Next Gen platform, fully adopted by October 2025, replaced the prior version as the sole platform for placing new risks.
PPL has grown to serve over 400 firms, including approximately 200 carrier firms and 200 broker firms, with more than 80% of risks placed in London market trade flowing through the platform. Notable firms using PPL include Aon and AXA XL. PPL recorded its highest ever number of active users during the June 2025 renewal period, underscoring its role as core market infrastructure.
