myVal
Mobile app that helps Australians document and value home contents for insurance purposes
Overview
myVal is a customer engagement and digital inventory application for the Australian P&C home and contents insurance market, serving consumers directly. The platform addresses the widespread problem of underinsurance among Australian homeowners and renters by enabling users to document and track their personal property before a loss occurs.
The core product is a free iOS and Android mobile app that uses AI-powered photo recognition to identify household items, assign categories, estimate values, flag sublimit exposure, and generate insurer-recognised inventory reports. Users capture items by photographing them with their smartphone; the app auto-fills item details, organizes the data into a structured inventory, and stores supporting documentation such as receipts and warranties in a secure digital vault.
Founded by Dan Novick following a personal underinsurance experience, myVal has gained early recognition within the Australian insurtech ecosystem, winning the InsurtechLIVE pitch competition in 2025 and being selected for Guidewire's Insurtech Vanguards program. The company is bootstrapped and at early startup stage.
