Overview
First Digital Takaful (FDT) is a direct-to-consumer general takaful carrier licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), headquartered in Karachi. Founded in 2017, it operates as Pakistan's first fully digital Islamic insurance platform, distributing Shariah-compliant products without traditional broker or agent intermediaries.
The company uses a digital-first operating model: customers receive instant online quotes, compare products, and file claims through the website and mobile app. All products operate under the takaful structure, in which participants pool contributions to cover mutual losses, with product terms and investment practices reviewed by qualified Shariah scholars.
FDT raised seed funding from Planet N Group of Companies in April 2021. The company covers personal lines including health, accident, motor, and mobile devices, serving individual and family policyholders within Pakistan's general takaful market, which has been growing at an estimated 14-16% annual rate.
