Overview

Asterias is a claims data platform for specialty insurance carriers, brokers, and adjusters. Founded in London in 2021, the company builds a vendor-agnostic system that captures loss incidents and accident details in codified, structured form from the point of first entry, eliminating the downstream cleansing and re-keying that currently fragments claims data across the insurance value chain. Initial market focus is aviation specialty insurance, with expansion planned into broader specialty and property lines.

The platform functions as an Interorganizational Information System (IOIS), enabling structured, interoperable data recording among insurers, brokers, policyholders, and adjusters. It connects to existing vendor systems via REST API or operates as a standalone portal, providing role-based dashboards, dynamic reporting, and portfolio-wide analytics. GDPR and CCPA compliance are built into the platform design, with comprehensive audit trails supporting regulatory requirements.

Asterias closed an oversubscribed GBP 600,000 Pre-Seed round in March 2024 led by Insurtech Gateway, with participation from Syndicate Room's Access fund and industry angels. The company is a portfolio company within the Insurtech Gateway incubator. The founding team combines 20 years of insurance industry experience from Lloyd's, Aon, Starr, and AIG with over a decade of software engineering expertise.
