Overview

Zensurance is a commercial insurance brokerage serving small businesses, independent contractors, and self-employed professionals across Canada.

The brokerage is licensed to place coverage across a network of more than 50 insurance carriers and structures packaged policies for more than 50 industry categories, including construction, retail, healthcare, e-commerce, personal care, restaurants, technology startups, non-profits, and home-based businesses. Coverage lines include general liability, professional liability (errors and omissions), commercial auto, commercial property, cyber liability, directors and officers liability, event liability, builder's risk, product liability, and legal expense insurance. Clients apply through a self-serve online quoting flow, with licensed brokers available for consultation and around-the-clock claims support.

Zensurance was founded in Toronto in 2016 and raised a USD 1M seed round from Ferst Capital Partners that year. In August 2018, The Travelers Companies acquired an approximately 60% majority stake in the company for roughly CAD 16M (about USD 12.25M); founder Danish Yusuf and co-founder Sultan Mehrabi together retained just over a third of the remaining ownership. Zensurance continues to operate under its own brand with its own multi-carrier panel, and no subsequent change to the ownership structure has been publicly reported through 2026. The company reports serving more than 100,000 Canadian small businesses to date.
