Paperbox spun out of Belgian AI/ML firm ML6 in 2023 following a successful partnership with Belfius Insurance that demonstrated the burden of administrative work in insurance operations.

The platform is delivered as a cloud-based SaaS with an API-first architecture. Core capabilities include automatic classification of incoming documents by type, relevance, and urgency; extraction of key fields such as claim numbers and policy details; enrichment linking documents to client, policy, and claim records; and intelligent routing to the appropriate team. The platform supports seven languages -- Dutch, English, French, German, Irish, Italian, and Portuguese -- and incorporates human-in-the-loop review for uncertain extractions.

Paperbox reports processing over 1 million documents monthly for 70+ insurance organizations, primarily in Belgium and Western Europe. Reported performance metrics include 99.5% classification accuracy, 99.9% platform uptime, and 90% workflow automation rates. The company participates in the FinTech Belgium community and completed the Accenture FinTech Innovation Lab London accelerator in 2022.
