Overview

Ominimo is a motor insurance MGA operating in Central and Eastern Europe, offering fully digital mandatory liability (MTPL) and comprehensive (CASCO) auto policies directly to consumers through a mobile app and web portal. The company was founded in 2024 by Dusan Komar, Dennis Weinbender, and Laslo Horvath, former consultants and mathematicians, and is headquartered in Budapest, Hungary.

Underwriting capacity is provided by DA Direkt, the direct insurance subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group, which also holds a 5% equity stake in Ominimo. The company operates with full binding authority under this arrangement, using proprietary machine learning models that evaluate over 100 variables per application to generate risk-adjusted pricing in real time.

After 15 months in the Hungarian market, Ominimo reported 300,000 policies sold and approximately 7% market share in domestic motor insurance. In 2025, the company began expanding to Poland, the Netherlands, and Sweden through a joint distribution agreement with DA Direkt, with stated plans to reach 15 or more EU markets by 2028. Zurich Insurance Group invested EUR 10 million in April 2025 at a reported valuation of EUR 200 million.
