Overview

Norwegian Insurance System (NIS) is a cloud-based policy and claims administration platform developed by New Technology Consulting AS, serving agents, brokers, captives, affinities, and government-affiliated insurance service providers across Norway and Scandinavia. The platform covers the full insurance lifecycle -- from quote-to-bind through claims settlement -- and is designed to serve organizations ranging from startups to large enterprise clients.

NIS is delivered as a SaaS solution hosted on Microsoft Azure, with automated workflows for policy production, claim handling, billing, and reporting. Key capabilities include automated renewals, BankID-authenticated customer portals, Office365-integrated claims communication, online bordereaux generation, and customizable pricing and underwriting engines. The underlying technology is built on New Technology Consulting AS's proprietary Flowify cloud platform.

Since deploying in Norway's insurance market for nearly three decades, NIS has built a customer base that includes Norsk pasientskadeerstatning (NPE), a Norwegian government agency for patient injury compensation, and Buysure, a private insurance broker that automated approximately 90% of its administration using the platform before being acquired by Gjensidige in 2025.
