Overview

Nordic Insurance Software (NIS) is a policy administration and claims management platform for specialty insurance carriers, assistance companies, and third-party administrators (TPAs). Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, the company focuses on specialty lines including travel, expatriate, international health, pet, roadside assistance, and affinity insurance. Its software supports operations across 30+ countries.

The platform covers the full insurance lifecycle: policy configuration and issuance, underwriting, claims handling and settlement, commission processing, and back-office reporting. NIS has historically operated as a SaaS platform, and its capabilities have been extended following consolidation with ICE InsureTech. In January 2026, NIS and ICE InsureTech were rebranded as ICE-Tech, a unified platform under the Acturis Group that adds AI-driven first notice of loss, digital journeys, and embedded analytics.

Acturis Group, a UK-based insurance software conglomerate, acquired NIS in February 2014 for approximately EUR 65 million. The acquisition expanded Acturis' footprint beyond the UK into global specialty markets. Notable customers include Zurich, Munich Re, Gouda, RSA, Global Excel, CEGA, and Canadian Automobile Association. The combined ICE-Tech platform serves clients in over 30 countries.
