Overview

docTeller is a document intelligence platform for insurance carriers, automating the classification and data extraction of underwriting documents across life, disability, auto, and home insurance lines. The platform enables carriers to handle subscription validation, KYC compliance, and underwriting workflows without manual document review.

The core technology -- RAD/LAD (Robotic Document Recognition / Layout Analysis Detection) -- is a proprietary deep learning system trained on insurance documents. It classifies document types including identification documents, financial statements, and application forms at 99.8% accuracy, with field-level data extraction exceeding 99% accuracy per field. Documents are processed in under one second, enabling real-time customer-facing workflows. The system maintains high accuracy even with poor-quality scans and mobile camera images.

docTeller originated in 2020 as an internal automation project for Groupama, one of France's largest mutual insurance groups. The company was subsequently spun off as an independent entity with Groupama retaining a majority equity stake. The platform currently processes over 6 million pages annually in production, with confirmed clients including Groupama and its life and health insurance subsidiary GGVIE.
