Overview
Ziina is a UAE-based digital payments and financial services platform licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE. Founded in 2020 by Faisal Toukan, Sarah Toukan, Talal Toukan, and Andrew Gold, Ziina is building financial infrastructure for SMEs and individuals across the Middle East. The company's mission is to bring "financial freedom to every person in the Middle East." In August 2024, Ziina became the first venture-backed startup in the UAE to obtain a Stored Value Facility (SVF) license from the Central Bank of the UAE, a significant regulatory milestone. The company has experienced tenfold annual revenue growth and a 34% month-on-month increase in customer growth as of mid-2024. In January 2026, Ziina became the first entity in the UAE to execute live Open Finance payments under the Central Bank's Open Finance framework.
