Overview
Zhongtuobang is China's largest mutual aid platform, founded in 2016 by Qiao Ke. Operating as Shanghai Zhongtuo Network Technology Co., Ltd., the company provides next-generation peer-to-peer health and accident protection plans through a cost-sharing model that makes coverage accessible to the mass market.
The platform achieved massive reach through its strategic integration with Alipay, China's largest payment platform, enabling seamless enrollment and payments directly within the Alipay app. This distribution advantage helped Zhongtuobang accumulate 22 million members via Alipay and 1.7 million direct platform members as of 2025.
As of early 2025, Zhongtuobang has distributed over 130 million yuan in mutual aid funds to more than 3,000 members. The platform uses blockchain technology for fund transparency and employs third-party custody of member advance deposits to build trust. Backed by Zhongke Zhaoshang Group as part of their innovation ecosystem, the company earned recognition as one of China's "Top 25 Internet Insurance Innovations" in 2020.
