YOUPLUS Assurance

YOUPLUS Assurance AG is a Liechtenstein-licensed life insurance carrier offering unit-linked (fund-linked) life insurance and Private Placement Life Insurance (PPLI), distributed through a digital B2B2C platform to customers in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. The carrier's life-insurance book traces to Aspecta Assurance International AG, a Liechtenstein life insurer acquired and rebranded as YOUPLUS around 2012, and the wider YOUPLUS group has also operated entities in Norway.

Policy onboarding and administration run on Asseco Central Europe's "Insurance out of the Box" (IooX) platform, licensed on a Platform-as-a-Service basis. The workflow replaces paper applications with facial biometric identity verification, online health and financial questionnaires, e-underwriting, and digital signature capture. YOUPLUS used the IooX platform to expand into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2019 and into Switzerland in early 2023, reporting more than 1,300 contracts concluded within nine weeks of the Swiss launch.

YOUPLUS Assurance AG ceased writing new business effective October 13, 2025, per a Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority (FMA) notice, and the wider YOUPLUS group has paused new business in Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia as well. Trade press reporting attributes the halt to a solvency-ratio decline from 286% at the end of 2023 to 107% at the end of 2024, following an aggressive 2023 growth push undermined by fraudulent intermediary-submitted business and compounded by falling interest rates raising the present value of future obligations. The company remains regulated and operational: existing contracts are being run off or transferred in an orderly, FMA-supervised manner while YOUPLUS pursues new capital and de-risking measures, including partial portfolio sales.
