Verti Versicherung AG is Germany's second-largest direct motor vehicle insurer, headquartered in Teltow near Berlin. Founded in 1996 as Allstate Direct with just five employees, Verti has grown to serve over one million policies with more than 550 employees. The company operates entirely without traditional insurance agents or brokers, selling products directly to consumers online and by phone.
Originally launched as Allstate Direct, the company was later acquired by Direct Line Insurance Group and operated as Direct Line Versicherung AG until 2015, when MAPFRE -- one of Europe's largest insurance groups -- acquired the business. The company was rebranded as Verti Versicherung AG in June 2017, aligning with MAPFRE's global digital insurance brand operating in Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and the United States.
Verti was a pioneer in data-driven premium calculation in Germany, introducing driving experience-based pricing as early as 1997. This innovation, combined with a direct-to-consumer model, positioned Verti as a leading digital insurer in the German market. The company continues to invest in digital transformation, automation, and AI-based tools to streamline claims processing and customer service.
