Taikang Online
Internet-only life insurance carrier in China, operating under a dedicated internet insurance license issued by China's National Financial Regulatory Administration.
Overview
Taikang Online is an internet-only life insurance carrier operating in China, holding a dedicated internet insurance license -- the only one of its type issued for life insurance by China's National Financial Regulatory Administration (NFRA). Founded in 2015 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taikang Insurance Group, the carrier distributes life, health, accident, and pension insurance products exclusively through digital channels.
The company runs a multi-channel platform combining its web portal (tk.cn), WeChat integration, and a dedicated mobile app. A network of more than 250,000 agents uses a proprietary mobile application for lead generation and policy management. Customer identity verification relies on facial recognition technology via a Baidu API, fraud detection uses a blockchain-based system called the Anti-Moth project, and AI chatbots handle routine customer service interactions.
Taikang Online operates within the Taikang Insurance Group ecosystem, backed by the capital and regulatory standing of one of China's largest insurance conglomerates. The parent group was ranked 334th on the Fortune Global 500 in 2026. In 2025, Taikang Online processed 1.29 million claims cases, served 610,000 clients, and paid out 9.6 billion yuan in cumulative claims.
