Overview

Sympatient is a digital health technology company that develops software infrastructure for regulated psychotherapy delivery, with primary relevance to health insurers, employee benefits platforms, and mental health care networks in Germany and Europe. Founded in 2017 as a spin-off from the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH), the company builds products at the intersection of clinical-grade digital therapeutics and practice operations technology.

The company's two core offerings are Invirto, a prescribed digital therapy for anxiety disorders approved under Germany's DiGA (Digitale Gesundheitsanwendung) framework, and PsyOS, a platform designed to manage the full operational workflow of psychotherapy practices. Invirto delivers virtual reality exposure therapy combined with app-based cognitive behavioral therapy modules; it is CE-certified as a medical device and fully covered by all German statutory health insurers (GKV). PsyOS integrates patient intake, treatment pathway management, digital therapeutics, AI-supported clinical documentation, and outcomes data into a single system for mental health providers.

Sympatient has raised EUR 9.1M across seed and Series A rounds. Verve Ventures led the EUR 7.5M Series A in 2022. The company's Invirto product achieved full GKV coverage in 2020, giving it access to approximately 73 million insured persons under the German statutory health insurance system. Techniker Krankenkasse, Germany's largest statutory insurer with more than 10 million members, was the first insurer to offer Invirto reimbursement.
