Qubit Underwriting
Digital asset and Web3 insurance MGA backed by Lloyd's of London capacity
Overview
Qubit Underwriting is a Hong Kong-based MGA providing digital asset and Web3 insurance to institutional clients, licensed by the Hong Kong Insurance Authority in January 2024. The company underwrites custodial digital asset insurance (Specie and Crime coverage), Directors and Officers liability, and marine and energy insurance for cryptocurrency exchanges, digital asset custodians, family offices, funds, asset managers, and payment processors.
Coverage is backed by S&P A-rated insurers including Lloyd's of London capacity via Canopius, for which Qubit was approved as a Coverholder in February 2025 -- the first digital asset insurance Coverholder in the Asia Pacific region. Reinsurance capacity is built in partnership with Guy Carpenter (a Marsh McLennan company).
Qubit applies a proprietary underwriting framework that incorporates contextualized risk assessments for each Web3 business, drawing on an internal incident database of past crypto industry events. The company launched formally in Australia in May 2025 and integrates with digital asset custody infrastructure providers Fireblocks and METACO.
