Overview

The Private Risk Management Association (PRMA) is a member-owned trade association for insurance professionals who specialize in serving high-net-worth individuals and families. It offers professional certifications, on-demand education, an annual conference, and a peer community for insurers, brokers, and service providers operating in the personal risk management niche.

PRMA administers two professional designations -- the CPRIA (Chartered Private Risk and Insurance Advisor) and the ACPRIA (Advanced Chartered Private Risk and Insurance Advisor) -- with more than 1,200 combined graduates as of 2024. The organization runs PRMA Academy, an on-demand learning platform with self-paced courses and guided Learning Tracks, and hosts an annual Summit that drew nearly 900 attendees in 2025. The Thrive community platform enables peer networking and knowledge exchange between members.

Founded in 2013, PRMA has grown from approximately 3,000 members in 2021 to over 6,200 by 2025. It operates 18+ regional chapters across North America and is structured as a nonprofit 501(c)(6) trade association (EIN: 46-2430573). Enterprise members include Aon, Chubb, Marsh, Acrisure, Brown & Brown, Hub International, and others active in the high-net-worth personal lines market.
