The company is a licensed insurance brokerage regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario, the Insurance Council of British Columbia, the Alberta Insurance Council, and the Insurance Council of Manitoba. It distributes term, whole, and no-medical-exam life insurance, mortgage protection, critical illness, disability income, travel and visitor coverage, individual health plans, and group employee benefits, comparing products from more than 30 Canadian carriers including Manulife, Sun Life Financial, Canada Life, and iA Financial Group. Segregated fund investment products are offered through the same licensed-advisor channel.

PolicyAdvisor combines a proprietary rate-comparison algorithm and online needs calculators with licensed human advisors, and describes itself as independent of any single carrier. Founded in 2018 by CEO Jiten Puri and publicly launched in April 2019, the company reports more than USD 8.0 billion in coverage placed and charges no fees to consumers. It has been recognized in Canadian insurance brokerage and fintech award programs, including a 2022 Fast Brokerage Award from Insurance Business Canada.
