Pinion Insurance is a specialty insurance carrier providing capacity to Managing General Agents (MGAs) across US, UK, and European markets. Launched in February 2026, the company was built on the foundation of Pinion Risk Consulting, an established data and analytics specialist in the MGA sector. The carrier operates from London with additional offices in Wilmington, Delaware and Bermuda, and is targeting US binding authority in Q2 2026 with UK and European underwriting capabilities planned for 2027, subject to regulatory approval.

The carrier differentiates through a proprietary technology platform that delivers real-time visibility into underwriting performance and portfolio exposure analytics. Built on Pinion Risk Consulting's existing analytics infrastructure, the platform provides MGAs and capital providers with data-driven insights to support underwriting governance and decision-making. The management team includes Neil McConachie (Group CEO), Laura Baird (Group CTO), and Philip Vandoninck (Group CUO), each with backgrounds in insurance company formation, technology development, and specialty underwriting.

Pinion is capitalized by a preferred equity commitment of up to USD 180M from Barings Capital Solutions. The company selected Phinsys in April 2026 to provide unified finance data infrastructure covering financial reporting, reconciliation, and integration across underwriting, actuarial, and financial systems.
