PIN Seguradora
Brazil's first insurtech carrier authorized by SUSEP to operate nationwide in the agricultural insurance market
Overview
PIN Seguradora is a direct-to-consumer agricultural insurance carrier licensed by Brazil's Superintendencia de Seguros Privados (SUSEP) to operate nationwide in the crop insurance market. Formerly operating as InnTech, the company focuses on small and medium-sized agricultural producers and uses satellite imagery combined with public climate, soil, and planting data to assess risk at the individual plot level rather than by regional averages.
The carrier's technology platform enables producers to obtain customized policy quotes, sign coverage digitally, and manage claims entirely online. Underwriting is driven by AI-based pricing models that combine satellite data with historical production records and public agricultural databases, allowing PIN to price risk more precisely than traditional carriers relying on regional pooling. Customer support and policy communication are handled via WhatsApp and email integration.
PIN was acquired by Grupo Ceres -- the agricultural arm of BTG Pactual -- in 2025 and completed a capital increase to R$ 9.55M subscribed capital in early 2026. In its first full year of operations, the carrier provided coverage equivalent to over 300,000 metric tons of agricultural production.
