Mutual of Omaha is one of the largest mutual insurance companies in the United States, founded in 1909 as the Mutual Benefit Health and Accident Association by Dr. C.C. Criss and Mabel Criss in Omaha, Nebraska. The company changed its name to Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company in 1950. Today it is a Fortune 500 company ranked No. 299 (2025), with operations spanning all 50 states.

Mutual of Omaha offers a broad range of life, health, and supplemental insurance products, along with financial services including annuities and retirement products. In 2025, the company announced plans to reorganize under a mutual holding company structure owned by policyholders.
