Mosurance
Usage-based motor insurance infrastructure built on OBD2 telematics data
Overview
Mosurance is a usage-based insurance (UBI) telematics platform for motor insurance carriers in the P&C sector. The company supplies the data infrastructure that lets an insurer move away from flat-rate motor premiums toward pricing based on how, where, and how much a vehicle is actually driven.
The platform connects to vehicles through OBD2-based telematics kits, distributed through a subscription arrangement with IoT vendor Senzmate, and streams driving data to Mosurance's cloud platform, MAGMA. MAGMA processes the incoming sensor data in real time and produces driver-level scoring, including a Driver Behavior Index and a Collision Index, which insurers can use to set premiums, calculate accumulated points and mileage, and support claims with supporting evidence. The platform also carries a set of driver-facing services layered on top of the same data feed: real-time driving alerts, theft and geofencing alerts, roadside assistance, and gamified scoring.
Mosurance's customers are motor insurance carriers in Sri Lanka and the wider regional market rather than individual drivers, reflecting a B2B delivery model. The company has pursued early-stage fundraising through the Asian Business Angels Forum in Colombo, with strategic investor-relations support from Crowdisland.
