Overview

Mila is a direct carrier licensed by the French Autorite de Controle Prudentiel et de Resolution (ACPR), offering real estate insurance products to individual landlords, property management agencies, and building syndicate administrators in France. Founded in September 2020 by Gerard Deray and Jean Boucher, Mila was among fewer than five companies in fifty years to receive ACPR carrier authorization, enabling it to underwrite and carry risk directly rather than operate as an intermediary.

The company runs a digital-first platform handling policy issuance, account management, and claims processing online. Its unpaid rent insurance product validates tenant files within six hours and notifies landlords of reimbursement decisions within 48 hours of a first missed payment, with rent credited within 72 hours. Mila also provides legal support for eviction proceedings linked to unpaid rent claims, and maintains phone-based customer support from 8am to 8pm on weekdays.

As of April 2025, Mila has raised approximately EUR 27.1M across seed and Series A rounds, with backers including Breega, Elevation Capital Partners, platform58, Hannover Ruck, and Munich American Reassurance Company. The participation of two global reinsurers as investors reflects institutional confidence in the carrier model. The company covers over 200,000 properties across France and holds a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot.
