Overview
Meemic Insurance Company is a Michigan-based insurer founded in 1950 by seven teachers who wanted to provide high-quality, affordable insurance exclusively to fellow educators. Originally named Michigan Educational Employees Mutual Insurance Company (M.E.E.M.I.C.), the company has grown from its Detroit Teachers Group origins into a statewide carrier serving educators across all levels. Meemic remains exclusively focused on Michigan's educational community and maintains a nonprofit foundation supporting education. In 2026 Meemic celebrated its 75th anniversary.
