The company operates under the Allianz Direct brand following its acquisition by Allianz Direct -- the digital insurance arm of Allianz Group -- in January 2024. Products are available online, with coverage starting in under two minutes and a self-service mobile application for policy management and claims.

On the technology side, Luko employs video-assisted claims processing, satellite imagery for property risk assessment, and fraud detection via an API integration with Finovox. Pricing is enhanced through an integration with Akur8, a machine-learning-based pricing platform. The company operates native iOS and Android mobile applications for policyholders.

Luko was acquired by Allianz Direct for EUR 4.3M through a bankruptcy court auction in January 2024 following judicial receivership in mid-2023. As of March 2026, Luko by Allianz Direct secured EUR 60M in new funding to accelerate technology development and market expansion, with a profitability target set for 2027.
