Overview
Lifesquare is a French mortgage insurance brokerage founded in 2014 by Emmanuel Bruneau, Tanguy Thevenet, and Christian Dutaret. The company operates Zen'Up, a direct-to-consumer digital platform for borrower insurance (assurance emprunteur) distribution in France. Borrower insurance is a mandatory protection product tied to residential mortgages and consumer credit, traditionally distributed through bank branches.
Zen'Up provides an end-to-end digital policy acquisition workflow including immediate pricing, automated medical questionnaire processing, electronic signature, and instant policy document delivery. The platform works with three insurance carriers -- MNCAP, Prepar Vie (a subsidiary of BRED Banque Populaire), and Generali Vie -- allowing borrowers to compare products without exclusive carrier alignment.
In August 2023, Malakoff Humanis, a major French social protection group, acquired approximately 80% of Lifesquare. The acquisition supports Malakoff Humanis's strategy to expand its borrower insurance revenue to EUR 300 million by 2030. Full ownership by Malakoff Humanis is planned.
