Koltin
Mexico's first private health insurance company dedicated exclusively to adults aged 50-85, combining medical coverage with tech-enabled preventive care.
Overview
Koltin is a direct-to-consumer health insurance carrier operating exclusively in Mexico and dedicated to adults between the ages of 50 and 85 -- a demographic historically underserved by traditional private health insurers. Founded in 2020 by Eduardo Ortiz Reynaga and Carmen Rosillo, the company launched commercial operations in 2022 and is headquartered in the Roma Norte neighborhood of Mexico City. Koltin underwrites major medical expense coverage through a partnership with BBVA Seguros Salud and distributes directly to consumers via digital channels.
The company integrates health insurance with a proactive care model, offering members telemedicine consultations via WhatsApp, annual check-ups, access to geriatric and gerontology specialists, and coordination with a national hospital network. This combination of insurance coverage and preventive health programming distinguishes Koltin from conventional health carriers in Mexico. The company also operates Casa Koltin, a physical wellness center in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City, with national expansion planned.
Since commercial launch, Koltin has issued more than 150 million pesos in premiums and maintains a customer retention rate above 90%. The company raised a USD 7.3M Series A round in September 2024 led by Left Lane Capital, bringing total funding to approximately USD 10.8M. As of 2026, Koltin employs approximately 140 people.
